You Don't Have To Be Perfect
Watching too many shorts on youtube :) has taught me that you really don't have to be a pro to be a teacher. You need to acquire knowledge continually and just as much share.
In my previous life, I actually believed you had to be perfect, some expert to then apply that. Still, once I got into the rat race as an adult, I realized there is no one point that you reach and you have enough, certainly not in the tech space where things are ever-changing nothing is constant and growth is part of life.
The Opportunities are endless
I reached out to my former university and requested to be a mentor, they had a mentorship program in place and in no time I had a group of aspiring tech individuals ready to be mentored.
We are all human, then it's easy
I rounded up the team of three on a thirty-minute call on Google meet. We all introduced ourselves and I explained to them how we could and should work together to grow our careers.
It's not all easy, but the complex parts shape us
I was excited that we met and I created a Calendly event for them to book appointments with me, that was almost a month ago - none of them has reached out but am hopeful, yes I am!
Have a Plan B and don't give up till you've exhausted all your options
My goal is to share with them something useful weekly, I also intend to set up a small doable project so we can all learn and grow together. I intend to stay adamant in this journey as a first-time mentor because this definitely feels like a worthwhile challenge in my career as a Frontend Developer
My First Meeting and presentation
I am a Micronaut(student at Microverse) and just 4 weeks in my professionalism has hit the roof and boy do I love it here. For my first meeting with my mentees I created a nice presentation titled Frontend Web Development Mentorship - Check it out.
What I aim to achieve
I would like to give as much impact as I receive from Microverse. This is mainly because like most people, I learn best through teaching what I learn;
On My 2023 Agenda
Share learning content
Connect with each individual on a personal level
Start working together on projects: from small to big
